It's amazing to see everything come together in one post like this. If it were an actual book, I'd buy copies for friends. This is going to be a great release.
  • Jay · 1 year ago
This is the best summary of Firefox 3 features that I have seen yet... great job Deb! This post is going to make many people happy. :-)

  • BigDubb · 1 year ago
This is great stuff, I agree with others' comments. I would like to give one caveat to this new application. In addition I would like to give a disclaimer; I am no way a m$ enthusiast or proponent, I choose the best tool for a problem. FF3 does not play well with SilvertLight all. I have noticed that this has been reported on bugzilla for the tool and assume that this will be addressed in the near future. However, with the fact that a lot of companies are working towards integration of SilverLight into their websites, this may be an issue.

    Great stuff tho.

What an amazing piece of work.
I can certainly appreciate the time and effort that you put into this post.

Firefox 3 offers something for everyone and you've done a great job of illustrating that.
  • Spuds · 1 year ago
tick tock, download day is coming.
  • Axendra · 1 year ago
Been using it from beta to rc to final and I have no issues with it, very nice browser.
  • David Tenser · 1 year ago
This is such a good summary of the improvements in Firefox 3. Not only do you explain everything in a way that is easy to understand and engaging, you manage to show just how much of a collaborative effort Firefox 3 is with the links to other developer's blog posts. Hats off to you Deb!

PS. You forgot one important new feature... Help > Firefox Help. ;)
  • Tristan · 1 year ago
    Deb,

your work is amazing. This is something that I wanted to do before each Firefox release, but never managed to achieve, at least on such a scale.

What you have done here and in our previous posts has proved to be very very useful for me to detail each and every new feature fo Firefox 3.

    Thanks!

Hi, we (Argentina's Mozilla Community) wish to translate it, could we?
  • Denis · 1 year ago
Still no official MSI package from Mozilla.
Supposedly that feature has been dropped.

=> Corps will NEVER want FF without an MSI.
    => And Frontmotion (http://www.frontmotion.com/) != Mozilla (It's a trust issue)

    Why MSI?
-it's a corp standard.(STD switches, behavior, customizable without repackaging the original MSI)
-It is designed from the ground up to run UNATTENDED regardless if it's an upgrade or a new install.

BTW: GPOs are nice to have but not critical.

Wonderful web article, I wish more people would figure out how to write as well in web format. EXCELLENT ARTICLE!
  • Anthony Lieuallen · 1 year ago
You missed a nice one! The appearance of local directory indexes has been improved greatly, with an attractive interface rather than the monospace font of yore.
  • Damian P. Gadal · 1 year ago
WOW! This is great! Thanks for all your hard work!
  • Without GBS, FF3 is useless fo · 1 year ago
A shame that Google Browser Sync is to be discontinued, this effectively kills FF3 for me.

When you are used to the gain of productivity of having cookies and passwords synced between computers, it's a real show stopper.

I have been using the beta this week and must say that I am very impressed. The surfing is faster - lightyears faster, and I am finding changes everyday that just leave me saying: "way Cool!!!!!". Firefox 3 is a must have - you will not be disappointed.
  • Don K · 1 year ago
I have been searching (in vain) to see if there is any information on whether the appearance of the browser will have to be re-configured after upgrading. While I am enthusiastic about the improvements and new features, I have my browser looking and working as I like it now. Any input on if I'll have to re-do things?

David, si los vídeos no se ven no es culpa del navegador, revisa el código y verás como funcionan.
