Why are sign-ups a pain ?
It takes 1 minute to register, and If you check the " remember me " box, then you wont need to login again for a long time .
Its actually quite easyer

I'm definitely a "pop" talker, being from Minnesota. Although I have been mistaken for a Canadian from time to time. Soda takes too long to say. That will never catch on.

I think you'll find Disqus to be a much better performer than the standard WP commenting system. The enhanced functionality is excellent, and makes the commenting experience much easier. I switched most of my blogs over to Disqus, and haven't been disappointed yet. Having to sign-up is kind of a pain, but I can't see a way around that at this point.

That is really cool that you enjoy your job so much. I know I sure appreciate Firefox (similar as David; been using Firefox for about 2 years on a Mac) so thank you your hard work.

IE has been rendering my theme poorly for my readers so I have been recommending Firefox which is now up to about 34.97% share (Oct-Dec).

That's really great to hear that your vacation brought you so much more than just a few pics. I had a similar experience a few weeks ago when I had holiday and noticed that I don't have to get to my pc to work on something and that I only can relax and do whatever I want to do. In General I try to have work-no-work boundaries but sometimes it was hard not to do anything during my leisure time. But your goal is a really good point and I think it's the best for your health.

Had a sneaking suspicion that World Without End wouldn't measure up. Granted, Pillars of the Earth had its troublesome moments-- the line "Suddenly, Jack had a brainwave" stands out to me-- but the grandness of the scope made up for it. Not sure if a bridge can capture the imagination in the same way as a cathedral. Eh, I'll probably rent it with my Bookswim.com account in case I want to mail it back after the first few chapters.

You make a good point of feeling seperate,. we recently returned form Amsterdam and after looking through our many hundreds of photos (Just like yourself, we took hundreds, even though many turned out alot different to how we expected.) Realized that i some how felt seperated from the place i was at when i took it. Almost like i was trying to get the place i was to pose for the camera, (Sounds crazy i know).

One way to avoid this feeling, is to only spend one full day taking photos, prefferably your last day. I suppose if you manage to do that. Then you will have already experienced the place your snapping with the camera, and be able to enjoy botht the moment of taking the photo. And the moment of been there.

We share many tastes in books. Currently reading Anathem, which is so different from the Baroque Trilogy that I wasn't sure I'd like it, and now am completely engrossed. Also enjoyed World Without End (assume you've read the earlier Pillars of the Earth and Rutherford's Sarum). We loved Toujours Provence which my wife and I read while living in southern Germany, on the French border. She just finished the Time Traveler's Wife and says it was great. Haven't read The Good Earth since school, so may have to re-read that classic.

Thanks for sharing and giving me some more to add to my list.

I'm working with Urdu language and now using an Urdu font, known as Alvi Nastaliq,

which is perfect in Internet Explorer, but not in FireFox 3.01, I mean there are some minor issues like placement of words disturbs in FF, like if you apply font to this Urdu text:
میرا نام فرخ ہے اور میرا تعلق پاکستان سے ہے
then some words might be placed below or mixed, but this is not the case in IE.

If you have Alvi Nastaliq, then you can see this forum
www.alqlm.org which is purely in Urdu, but you can see the misplacement of words in FF but not in IE

I had this internal debate a few years ago and essentially gave up on taking pictures. It was too easy to hide out behind the lens and miss out on all the action/fun.

Nowadays, I take the occasional picture, but mostly I'm in front of lens playing with the kids. I am grateful that my wife still keeps snapping away, and I try to make sure she gets in her fair share of photos too.
